As a quasi-governmental entity, the Florida State Fair Authority operates under many different legal proceedings. Explore the information below to learn more about some of the rules and regulations required for operation at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
The Florida State Fair is a quasi-governmental Authority as provided by Florida Statute 616, the Florida State Fair Authority manages the Florida State Fair. In accordance with Florida Statue 616.215, the authority shall operate under the supervision of the Commissioner of Agriculture, which supervision may include, but is not limited to, assisting, advising, and making recommendations regarding the financing and operation of the authority. In assisting and advising the authority, the Commissioner of Agriculture may make appropriate staff of the department available to the authority.

Service
During the Florida State Fair, pets are not allowed on the Fairgrounds, with the exception of service animals and animals approved as part of an exhibition. As defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
